Biofuels can be divided into 4 different groups of products: bioethanol (which is produced by distillery), biodiesel (which is produced from rapeseed, sunflower, straw), solid fuel (from various plant waste) and biogas (which is a product of organic matter decomposition). “DZI” says that the production of liquid fuels (bioethanol and biodiesel) seems to develop very slowly due to the lack of real government support.
Cabinet of Ministers has approved the state program of energy efficiency for 2010-15. One of its priorities is reducing the share of natural gas and oil in the fuel mix and their replacement by other forms of energy (primarily from renewable energy sources). Also Ukraine became a part of EU Energy Community. This requires gradual implementation of European fuel standards, including the development of biofuels.
